Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) on Rice Irrigation

چکیده

In Malaysia, numerous methods have been subsequently established subjected to water-saving irrigation aiming improve the common conventional system. However, among most preferred method, alternate wetting and drying (AWD) adoption are presently in paddy cultivation yet has very limited information, especially locally. Hence, this study intended propose two treatments, namely continuously flooded (control) AWD irrigation, investigate feasibility of implementation. The experiment was conducted at field Padang Raja Kelantan, Malaysia. From result, agronomic performance evaluated by several attributes under growth evaluation, grain yield chlorophyll measurement. Statistical analysis performed on obtained data, both growth, performances, content resulted no significant difference p < 0.05, a 95% confidence level.

Alternate wetting and drying irrigation for rice cultivation

A field experiment was conducted at the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) to find out possible effects of alternate wetting and drying irrigation (AWDI) on the yield, water use and water use efficiency (WUE) of Boro rice. The experimental layout was furnitured using split-plot design (SPD) with two modern varieties (MV) of rice viz. BRRIdhan 28 and BRRIdhan 29, which received four irriga...

Standardization of alternate wetting and drying (AWD) method of water management in low land rice (Oryza sativa (L.))

Alternate wettting and drying (AWD) systems save water compared with continuoussubmergence (CS) irrigation. However, the reported effect on yield varies widely and detailedcharacterizations of the hydrological conditions of AWD experiments are often lacking so thatgeneralizations are difficult to make. We compared the effects of AWD and CS on crop andwater productivity in rice in the field expe...

Involvement of cytokinins in the grain filling of rice under alternate wetting and drying irrigation.

Cytokinins may reflect soil water status and regulate rice (Oryza sativa L.) grain filling. This study investigated the changes in cytokinin levels in rice plants and their relations with grain filling under alternate wetting and drying irrigation. Two 'super' rice cultivars were field grown. Three irrigation regimes, alternate wetting and moderate soil drying (WMD), alternate wetting and sever...

Alternate wetting and drying irrigation maintained rice yields despite half the irrigation volume, but is currently unlikely to be adopted by smallholder lowland rice farmers in Nepal

Alternate wetting and drying (AWD) irrigation can save water while maintaining rice yields, but in some countries its adoption by farmers remains limited. Key knowledge gaps include the effect of AWD on early vegetative vigor and its relationship with yield; the effects of AWD on yield and water use efficiency of local cultivars used by smallholder farmers; and the socio-economic factors influe...

Water Use Efficiency and Physiological Response of Rice Cultivars under Alternate Wetting and Drying Conditions

One of the technology options that can help farmers cope with water scarcity at the field level is alternate wetting and drying (AWD). Limited information is available on the varietal responses to nitrogen, AWD, and their interactions. Field experiments were conducted at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) farm in 2009 dry season (DS), 2009 wet season (WS), and 2010 DS to determine...
